Daylight savings time gives us longer evenings in the summer, but the spring shift is difficult to adjust to. Many people take a week or more to get used to the new schedule after losing an hour. By maintaining a sleep schedule to getting a custom mattress, there are ways you can help your body adjust to the new routine and return to a perfect sleep.
Maintain a Schedule
Sticking to a schedule for going to bed and waking up helps you sleep better throughout the year and adjust more quickly to the time change. This includes not sleeping in on the weekends, which can throw off your circadian rhythms.
Get Enough Sleep
Getting adequate sleep in the days leading up to the time change will help your body adjust more quickly. A custom mattress can help you sleep better and make the most of the time you have for sleeping. Most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep per night to feel rested and energized.
Use the Right Mattress
The right mattress is important for a night of perfect sleep. An uncomfortable mattress makes you more likely to toss and turn during the night, while a proper mattress comfortably supports your body so you wake up feeling refreshed. Foam mattresses are a great choice, as are organic latex mattresses.
Exercise
Regular exercise helps you sleep better at night, as long as you don’t exercise right before bed. Even just ten minutes a day can improve your sleep, especially if you exercise at the same time every day to help maintain your circadian rhythms.
Catch on Your Sleep with the Perfect Mattress
By getting an hour more or an hour less, a change in our sleep pattern can greatly disrupt our good night’s sleep. It is important to always maintain consist sleep times, adjust your bed including getting a custom mattress, and take care of your body to make sure that you can regain those lost hours by getting restful sleep.
